The regular E-waste races are continuing. These are still a very educative and successful collection tool. This autumn there are two races in the North of The Netherlands. For 2017 several more races are planned in other Weee Nederland collection regions.
The E-waste race, summer edition
This summer, for the first time ever, a ‘summer edition’ of the E-waste race took place. 57 summer schools took part in this race. The summer school is one of the few institutes that keeps on going in the summer. The children got a guest lecture and workshop in which they were allowed to take apart diskdrives. The components (plastic, metal, circuit board etc) were of course separated and put into several bins. After this the E-waste race started and the kids went on to collect E-waste whole summer long. With the program 3000 children were reached, and these children informed around 100.000 people in their region. Villa Fantasia in Arnhem was the winner of the E-waste race, summer edition.
