Weee Nederland works with different WEEE partners in every country. If you do not have a registered office in a certain country, you will often need an Authorized Representative (AR) in order to be registered in the WEEE-register. Our partners abroad can act as your AR for an extra fee. We will take care of that too if necessary. The number of sold electrical devices (but also batteries and/or packaging) has to be reported at the different systems. The frequency of these reports differs per system too. This can be annually, per semester, quarterly or monthly. Whenever a report is due in a certain system or country, you will get a reminder from us to send us your sales data for that country. We will make sure that these sales are declared in the system in time.
Costs of registration
As mentioned above, costs per country and system in the EU differ a lot. One system only asks for a yearly membership fee and extra costs for sold products, the other bases it’s fee on sold items or kilos.
You would like to sell products in Belgium. Than you are lucky when it comes to registration costs, as this is € 0 in Belgium! Let’s say that your products are all small household appliances (no external dimension more than 50 cm), such as coffee makers or digital cameras. In this case, you pay between € 0,0121 and € 0,10 per item.Every quarter, you report the products sold and you will receive an invoice accordingly. Please note, prices can change per year and the actual price depends on the type of product. When all requested information is being supplied quickly, registration in Belgium can be completed within 2 weeks. In Germany, you pay a one-off registration fee of € 150 at our partner. Next to that, there is an annual fee of € 189 for registering at the German WEEE-register (the EAR). To make it easy, let’s assume again that your products will be categorized as small household appliances: in this case you pay €189 per ton of products placed on the market (POM). A minimum fee of € 315 applies here. When you sell over 3 tons POM, the price per ton goes down. Next to that there is the fee for an AR. That fee is € 350 per year. So, in total, registration in Germany entails a minimum of €850 per year (incl. the AR) and a one-time registration fee of € 150. Please note: registration in Germany takes between 12 and 16 weeks!
Weee Nederland can take the trouble of registering and reporting off your hands. Costs of our services for registration are a one-off amount of € 800 or € 1000 (depending on country). Should you decide to register in multiple countries, then our services are definitely of added value, since you will have only one contact for all WEEE-related business: we deal with all our different partners in the other EU countries.
Thomas Krijnen from ModusLink calls Weee Nederland ‘A young progressive organization which is reliable and hands-on’. He like that the WEEE registration and reporting is taken care of in the countries in which they operate. Thomas is also very positive about the attention to social return on investment (SROI) by Weee Nederland and the short lines.
